Focus of the story: Brief synopsis of your struggle
I struggled with time management and schedule keeping.
Describe your learning story and how you developed, grew or and overcame the problem.
In my freshman year in college, I struggled with time management. I had no idea how many hours to devote to each subject and still have time for my other classes. I would go on like this for days and then I would have to rush assignments to get them finished on time. This process made me feel overwhelmed, so I decided to reach out for help. I was in the Math Lab talking to one of the tutors and I mentioned my struggle with time management. He recommended that I try and schedule my schoolwork so that it is finished a week ahead of time.
I did not think it was possible for me to do this, but once I started and got into it, I had a much easier time maintaining my schedule and dedicating time to studying. Learning how to manage my time and how to reach out for help have made a positive impact on my life. I feel such a sense of relief now that I do not have to worry so much about my schedule. It really is best to do things ahead of time, so you don't have to worry about it later. The advice from my tutor has helped me to get ahead of my classwork, helped me manage my time, and changed my mindset. I have become more motivated to get things done and out of the way. I make sure to put enough effort into each assignment or project I encounter, and I pay attention to make sure I meet the criteria the professor is looking for.
Describe the impact that this experience had on you.
My mental health has improved so much now that I make my time work for me. I don't have the stress of rushed assignments hanging over my head, and I can schedule time to do the things I enjoy like seeing family and friends and my significant other. This whole process has taught me the value of clear communication and how to analyze a situation when I have a problem and determine what needs to be done to fix it.
